Just like millions of people all over the world, for me New Year’s Eve day is always a day to reflect on the past year and to set intentions for the upcoming year. Taking stock in what you have accomplished and learned is as important if not more important than looking forward at the changes or goals you want to achieve in the future. Gratitude and acceptance open the door for greatness in your life.
Take some time today, and everyday for a victory lap. Take a walk through your year, what did you do, see, achieve, overcome…spend time feeling good about the year. Even in the toughest of times, you can be grateful, if only for your survival skills.
Here are a few simple steps to help you in your 2010 wrap up:
Take time to sit quietly and reflect. If you journal, grab your journal and log all the great things you have brought about in your life this year. Snuggle in your favorite chair with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, take a few deeps breaths and let yourself relax.
Start big. I find that starting with the big things is easiest. As you begin you’ll find that big things lead to seemingly small things. It’s in all of the small achievements that we find what’s really great in our lives, these things often get taken for granted. Be proud and know that you created all of these moments in your life.
Be grateful for what you have accomplished. Stay focused, your mind will try to send you down the road to what you have not achieved or the challenges that you have faced.
Celebrate! I’m a big fan of celebrating your victories. Celebration creates momentum. When you celebrate you show gratitude and appreciation for the win and you set the stage for your next win. Start your own winning streak right now! Cheers To you!
